What are our aims and objectives? |

(a) To provide a broad and balanced science education for all,
which encompasses and promotes the following themes: (i) A coherent curriculum structure for science.
(ii) An experience of a broad range of sciences.
(iii) Access to science for all students.
(iv) Enhanced learning and performance
(v) Progression and continuity.
(vi) Cross-curriculum links.
(b) To provide, through well-constructed studies of investigative and practical activities, a science education which enables the learner to:
(i) Appreciate science as a human activity.
(ii) Understand how science operates.
(iii) Know and understand how science operates.
(iv) Know and understand scientific concepts and principles.
(v) To be able to be scientific in analysing and solving problems
(c) To provide relevant and challenging Science courses and promote and develop the associated elements of cross-curricular programmes of study.
(d) To develop abilities and skills that are:
(i) Relevant to the study and practice of science.
(ii) Useful in everyday life;
(iii) Encourage safe practice.
(e) To stimulate:
(i) Curiosity, interest and enjoyment in science and in the methods of enquiry.
(ii) Interest in, and care for, the environment.
(f) To promote an awareness of:
(i) The study and practice of science are cooperative and cumulative activities subject to social, economic, technological, ethical and cultural influences and limitations.
(ii) The applications of science may be both beneficial and detrimental to the individual, the community and to the environment.
(g) To promote a greater self-awareness and a positive attitude of personal responsibility for health.
(h) To enable all students to work independently, and to take more responsibility for their own learning.
(i) To encourage group activity, through discussions, projects and practical activities.
(j) To encourage pupils to develop personal qualities such as politeness, perseverance, initiative, empathy, self-confidence , and independence.
(k) To develop an understanding of the spiritual, moral, cultural aspects in the development of science ,and in the study of science.
